  • Sunday 29th October 2017  – Feast of Christ the King

Dear Faithful,Today is the Feast of the Christ the King. A plenary indulgence can be gained under the usual conditions by participation in the public recitation of the Act of Dedication to the Human Race to Jesus Christ King.

I have the great joy of announcing to you that Monsignor Wach, Prior General of the Institute, has called Deacon Joseph Heppelle to the Order of the Priesthood! Deacon Heppelle will receive priestly ordination at the hands of His Eminence Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke on the Feast of St. Francis de Sales next 31st January at our church in Florence, Italy. Please keep Deacon Heppelle in your prayers as he prepares for the Priesthood.

On Tuesday of this week, I and Deacon Heppelle will be traveling to Fatima along with 77 pilgrims from Ireland to join the many others canons, sisters and faithful of the Institute’s apostolates throughout the world on a pilgrimage led by Cardinal Burke. Please be assured of our prayers for you from the site of our Lady’s apparitions. I will offer Mass for your intentions during the pilgrimage.

Next Wednesday, 1st November is the Feast of All Saints, which is a holy day of obligation in Ireland. Masses will be offered at 8am and 7pm. The following day, Thursday 2nd November is All Souls’ Day. A low Mass of Requiem will be offered at 8am, and a Sung Requiem Mass with absolution at the catafalque will be offered at 7pm. Due to the penitential nature of the sanctuary on this day, there will be no 6pm exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on this day.

Friday, 3rd November is the First Friday of the month. Mass with homily followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and devotions to the Sacred Heart will take place at 7pm. The following day is First Saturday. Masses will be offered at 8 am and 12 noon. Devotions to the Immaculate Heart of Mary will take place at 11:15am, and a Marian procession through the church will be held following the noon Mass.

Holy Water is now available in small bottles in the back of the church. Free will offerings are greatly appreciated to cover the cost of the bottles.

Wishing you a blessed week!

In Christ,

Canon Lebocq, Prior of Sacred Heart Church
